The College of Engineering and the Department of Aviation Science at California Baptist University invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track, department chair in Aviation Science.Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University and evidence a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching through the integration of the Christian faith and learning. This is a twelve-month position and will remain open until filled. Starting date: July 1, 2025. • Master's degree in Aviation, Public Administration, Business, Education, or related field.
• At least 5 years of related aviation industry experience.
• The ability to manage multiple complex daily tasks, from working with students to working with the FAA, the VA, to managing aircraft acquisitions.
• Experienced pilot in a commercial, military, or private setting.Preferred Qualifications:
• Airline Transport Pilot and/or Certificated Flight Instructor.
• Minimum of 1,000 flight hours logged.
• Doctoral degree with Aviation, Public Administration, Business, Education, or related field.
• Five years in aviation training, aviation education and/or an aviation-related facility management position.
• Five years of full-time work experience in higher education or aviation-related facility.
• Ability to work well with students, staff, and others who walk through the door.
• Budget/forecasting/auditing experience.
• Experience with accreditation/assessment.
• Demonstration of effective customer service.
